Anusara (Ah-nuh-sa-ra) is the beautiful Sanscrit word chosen from a Tantric text by John Friend in 1997 to name the essence of his method of yoga.
Anusara means. . .
flowing with grace; stepping into the currents of the heart
Stepping In means. . . Attitude
The winds of grace are blowing all the time; all we have to do is set our sails. -- Rama Krishna
To "set our sails," is our choice, our Intention to open up to our deepest longing to fulfill our true Purpose, to offer our own gifts. Saying YES to Life, we choose partnership with the benevolent Universe.
Stepping In means. . . Alignment
Steering toward what is life-enhancing, we line up with that which opens the flow of Life energy moving through us. The practice of Anusara yoga unfolds from Principles that we practice in every pose. From these same Principles we safely map our way through any complexities by tracking what supports our vitality and well-being.
Stepping In means. . . Action
We enact intentional alignment in the ground of practice. Showing up for practice, over and over tilling up the ground of our being, planting seeds of intelligent and balanced action that take us toward the radiant flowering of our unique full self-expression.
