Here are some practical suggestions offered to help you prepare to come to yoga class. Please feel free to ask any questions at any time.
1. The body functions with a lot more ease if it is not also busy digesting food, so 2 hours after a meal is optimal for practice.
2. Dress comfortably for maximum movement and relaxation. We usually practice in bare feet.
3. Please mention any physical limitations you are experiencing so that you can receive modifications where necessary to help you stay safe and maximize the therapeutic benefits of your practice.
4. Every one of us is in a unique body and every practice is different. Part of the art of yoga is becoming sensitive and responsive to the needs of your own body to guide your practice. For example, you will learn to distinguish between pain and sensation, which is a new awakening to an unfamiliar movement.
5. Please do not wear perfume to class, as the body will heat and the fragrance becomes overpowering especially for people with allergies.
6. If yoga practice becomes a regular part of your life, you will want to have your own sticky mat, which is hygienically beneficial.
7. Please do consider your class time like a standing appointment you keep with yourself, so that you protect it and you will see results as the body becomes accustomed to regular practice.
8. Let your practice time be a judgment-free zone so you can relax, nurture yourself, and have fun.
